WinLock - Access Control System for Windows
This program is designed to provide you with access control for multiple
user system access from within windows. It is designed to be used in
conjunction with other windows setup features to provide a reasonable
degree of security for your system access. It can NOT provide 100%
system control, since most systems allow a user to boot from a floppy or
even to possibly use ^C to exit from AUTOEXEC.BAT at boot time.
Installation: WinLock.EXE must be in the save drive and directory that
you are executing InstLock from when installing.
Windows setup options required.
VBRun300.DLL is required in your windows or windows\system directory.
This is not installed automatically and is available free
from Microsoft or most any BBS system.
WinLock must be specified as the screen saver routine in your
SYSTEM.INI file (added automatically by InstLock)
Screen saver must be activated and a time value specified in
your WIN.INI file (added automatically by InstLock)
If you are a system administrator for several systems you may need
additional control over the windows setup and configuration. If this is
the case, you should consider the following actions as well:
Keep your AUTOEXEC.BAT file as short as possible prior to loading
Windows
Delete all program manager icons for dos access in your groups -
access to dos will disable the screen saver and automatic
logoff functions of WinLock (since windows will not interrupt
a dos program to activate the screen saver)
You should place options in your program manager INI file to prevent
users from adding program items, deleting items, changing
items, or running programs from the File|Run menu. These
options help prevent users from installing unauthorized
software on your system.
WinLock will log the user off automatically based on the time you
specified during installation. If the user terminates windows, WinLock
will record the logoff automatically and allow the system to exit. To
prevent unauthorized access following the termination of windows, you
should execute a disk parking program that requires a cold boot to exit
from, or insure that your WIN.BAT file calls itself again as the last
line of the file.
These additional precautions allow you to control your windows
installation configuration and allow access only to authorized users
using authorized sowftware through the windows interface.
If you close or exit from WinLock, it will close all other active
windows applications, giving you a chance to save your work if the other
programs normally provide that capability.
The unregistered version of WinLock allows you only one user id and password.
It is user id TEST with a password of TEST. You may copy and distribute
this version of the program freely.
The registered version of WinLock allows you to add up to 100 user ids
and passwords per system. You may NOT copy this version of the program
for use on any machine which you do not own! The registered version
DOES allow you to copy and use the program on up to 10 different
computers as long as these computers are owned and operated by the
individual or company under which the program was registered.
This program is copyrighted shareware. Unauthorized use is illegal!
To register this program, send $20 for each registration (good for up to
10 computers owned by the same individual or company) to:

If you choose not to register (and therefore not to continue to use)
WinLock, please take the time to write to me to explain what you did not
like about the program or registration policy. Thank you!

NOTE: WinLock has a PERMANENT user id and password of CSSO and DJACKSON
for access to system functions. This is the userid you need to use to
define a "SYSTEM" user id for future system function access. You may
have a different SYSTEM password for each system, but only one per
system will be accessible. Do not distribute this user id and password
if you do not want others to have access to this function of your
program! (CSSO and SYSTEM are the ONLY user ids which will be allowed
to access system functions from the login screen!)
